The international swimming Federation (FINA) has approved the change of sports citizenship of British swimmer Tatyana Belonogoff to Russian, the press service of the all-Russian swimming Federation reports.

“After reviewing the various documents provided by your Federation, we inform you that FINA has approved the request to change Tatyana Belonogoff’s sports citizenship from British to Russian. Thus, Tatyana Belonogoff has the right to represent Russia at international competitions from September 10, 2020, ” the statement reads.

The swimmer’s mother is a native of Russia, but Belonogoff was born and lives in Britain. The decision of the athlete to get sports citizenship of Russia became known in February.
